It’s believed about 99 years ago, the Caesar salad was created by Italian restauranteur Caesar Cardini, a restaurateur and Italian immigrant who invented the recipe sometime in 1924, at Caesar’s Restaurant in Tijuana, Caesar’s Restaurant is still open on Avenida Revolución. It quickly became popular amongst locals and visitors alike. Since then, numerous variations of the Caesar salad have emerged all over the world – but its roots can be traced back to Tijuana, Mexico. WHAT IS CAESAR SALAD MADE OF? Caesar salad (also spelled César, Cesar, and Cesare) is a green salad made with romaine lettuce, croutons, lemon juice or lime juice, olive oil, egg, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, anchovies, Dijon mustard and salt and pepper. It’s believed to have been prepared and served at the table or tableside.
